doctor who?

For those of you who don't know, I'm a bit of a sci-fi nerd. And this weekend was the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who! I grew up watching Doctor Who and have loved the new series (I fell a bit behind in the last few seasons), so when I heard there were special screenings for the 50th Anniversary Special, I definitely wanted to go. Hannah and I went with our fiancees, and of course dressed up in Doctor Who inspired outfits. Because yes, we are nerds (but stylish nerds).

Long time no outfit post! I've been slacking with outfit photos lately, hence the lack of outfit posts.

I'm wearing:

This was one of those outfits where I think it looked a lot better in my head than it did in real life (or at least in photos). This probably would've looked better with a more fitted sweater, but this sweater is just so comfortable.

The sun was really in my eyes when we took these photos, so it was sunglasses or squinty face. I was originally inspired by this photo for this outfit, since I have that floral sweater, but I could not find it for the life of me (turns out it was in the dirty laundry). Another idea for another outfit though.

cool things of the week #13

I didn't realize it had been such a long time since I've done a Cool Things of the Week post. Whoops. Well, here's a new one!

1. PetCube – connect with your pet or shelter pet!

This is so cool. It's like a webcam for your pet so you can check on them while you're at work, or to play with a shelter pet before you adopt them. 

2. The Great Jack-o-Lantern Blaze

I'm not sure where this event took place, but it's totally amazing what they created out of carved and lighted pumpkins. 

3.  Designer Stops Texting, Sends Photos Of Hand-Written Calligraphic Messages

I love how much time and dedication went into this project—and it's a nice reminder of a simpler, but more labor intensive time. Also, it seems like great practice!

4. Scandinavian Floral Calendar by the HouseThatLarsBuilt

This is so pretty—I love the floral illustrations. 

I need to start looking for a 2014 calendar soon, there's so many pretty ones!

fun weekend brights.

The good thing about college is you can wear whatever you want, any day of the week. When you work full time in an office, the number of days you can wear whatever you want without any guidelines shrinks down to 2. So this past Saturday when I went to meet Hannah for coffee, I decided to wear a fun outfit.

I love how this outfit turned out, it was just fun. I wish I could wear crazy colored tights more often, but I suppose there is a place for everything. And studded jackets & brightly colored tights will have to be reserved for weekend coffee dates.
